Go Leafs Go!!

« on: March 08, 2010, 12:00:24 PM »

I just thought I would mention this.  Since the snow began melting I have noticed some major damage to the asphalt leading up to my driveway.  It actually got so bad I could not drive over it without scraping the bottom of my van.  This past Friday afternoon my wife finally decided to email city works to notify them of this, and asked if something could be done to fix it.  To my surprise, when I returned home from school this morning I noticed the problem was fixed and am now able to pull into my driveway without any issues.

I was expecting a much longer wait as the email was sent late Friday afternoon, but the city fixed the problem by 11:30AM today.

People often focus on the negatives, so I think this had to be mentioned.  City works did an awesome job, and with A+ service like this I am happy to pay property taxes.

That's great.  I have heard horror stories in the past of it taking a very long time for that sort of thing to get corrected, and it is actually illegal to attempt to correct it yourself.  I am glad it worked out better for you.

I'm looking forward to seeing the list of streets the city plans on working on this summer.

REALLY hoping for Coulson.  Aside from the numerous potholes and the 8" dropoff on either side of the street down to the curb, there's this ENORMOUS dip/bump halfway down the street, which, even at slow speeds, you'll bottom out on.  I was walking my dog the other day, and a young guy was driving a small pickup, doing 30-40 kph.  He hit the bump and caught some huge air.. I'd say close to a foot off the ground...  and the box of his truck actually lifted up and slammed back down on the frame.  It was hilarious.  He slowed right down to like 15 kph after that.

After reading this yesterday, I emailed the city as well, as my car scrapes the end of the sidewalk/driveway every time I go in or out.  They are patching it as I type, less than 24 hours after I inquired.

Thank you for the heads up.

Very impressive service!  I'm curious if the lack of snow this year has positively impacted the speed of service in other areas such as pothole repair or if the two have nothing to do with each other....

I wonder as some posters have said the service in other years was not as good (and we had much more snow those years).  This year we had very, very little snow and service seems to be excellent!

Either way, kudos to the city for their responsiveness!
