I can remember the local clique telling Algoma Steel workers to sink or swim back in the early nineties. An NDP government came through with loan guarantees, and the mill survived to see better days.

It's painful to see how the government helped out with millions of dollars just a couple years ago and the mill is already shut down again.  I hope things work out so the mill can remain viable, both for the workers and their families and the taxpayers of the Sault and Ontario who have supported the mill.
