Wow, is it REALLY that visible down there?  Is it every night?  I'd heard mutterings about it online as a problem area over the last year or so.  I feel bad for anyone living in that area.  I would think the police would attack the problem, since there seems to be an identified area, but they can't just arrest someone for being on the streets, right?  Hope they're doing some undercover work to try and change the situation.

Millwright, do you live in the area?  Have you contacted the police?  City council?

I would like to advise you all that if Ron was elected mayor, he would Propose the idea of two new police stations, small ones with about five to ten officers each. Along with the Second line office, Ron would go to City Council proposing a small station in Jamestown and one in the East end (Youve heard of east end vandilism), more specifically on Shanon road. We could be the first city in Northern ontario with under 100,000 with over one Municipal police office.

Its Schinners or chaos. The streets have seen much chaos over the time, and hookers on streets, stabbings on Gore (The Jamestown Police cars would be there in like a minute), and dont forget broken bus shelters and windows, spraypainting on our streets, and eggings when kids are of school or devils night. We could choose Ron who has seen the law enforcement and has military experience, or we could choose a buisnessman who possibly has nothing on crime..

Your choice, keep the crime going, or voting in the one most have been reluctant to.. He has some good ideas. Lets try him out.

and who is going to pay for these sub stations, who is going to man them? how is this spending possible without raising taxes... IMO, it's a really unrealistic plan.

I've got to say, multiple police stations in the Sault is one of the more ridiculous ideas I've heard.  It takes what, 15 minutes to get from one end of the Sault to the other?  Can't be more than 10 for an emergency vehicle.  It would be really unnecessary spending.

As for the original reason for the thread, I'm surprised something hasn't been done about this as well.  To be honest, I wasn't aware of the situation, but if it is common knowledge, I'm surprised police haven't done something about it.

At one point there used to be a small police post downtown on Queen St. What happened to it you ask? No funding to run it. Nice thought Ron, but it has been tried and done. Move on to something else that you can't get funding for!  Cheesy

Huh, I must be even more naive than I gave myself credit for. I had no idea this was a problem in our city never mind in my own back yard. I live in the immediate area and saw nothing, gotta get out more I guess. I don't see more police as an answer but perhaps better use of our current resources might be in order. Although when I think about it you don't see as many cruisers as you once did so maybe?

I've been hearing about it for a while now and I find it a bit disturbing.  I'm not judging, but I'm fortunate enough to hear some pretty reliable information about some of the gals.  ( I know that sounds like gossip but facts are facts)
Just to be totally serious, keep your pecker in your pants boys, one of them is HIV+.
No joke, and be aware that you can even catch genital herpes from a BJ.
Hey, someone had to say it.

The police can't do anything unless they catch them, and I don't believe they have the time or manpower to do a sting.  They are too busy getting called to domestics.  But it would probably help to get them to "move them along" so they aren't comfortable advertising their wares.
I feel bad for the people in the area, especially those with children.

Our police do not have the man power for undercover officers who would not be known to the local criminals.  They have to have evidence that they are asking people for their business  purposes and not just being lost or looking for their lost puppy.  Have to have evidence to arrest and most people turn their heads instead of getting involved and calling the cops to provide a statement.  The biggest change will come from the neighbours themselves, calling the police to move them on or yelling at the girls and the pervs stopping to get them uncomfortable and move them on.
