Loopy, if one of them is HIV+, can't she be charged with attempted murder for that...given they can prove prostitution?

I know the police are busy with domestics, 'cause these people never really have to pay the price, so continue on, but if it was my neighbourhood, I'd be rippin'.  How the hell are you supposed to raise kids to do the right thing in this city when you have stuff like this openly going on, and the druggies doing the B&Es, stealing wallets, running around town with their drug buddies with guns, and all they ever get is a slap on the wrist?  Damn.

I understand the frustration.  To charge her or anyone they would have to first prove and unfortunately there aren't a lot of johns who would speak up.  Unfortunately denial is a state that many would find themselves in.  Some people just don't want to know.
Truth is that this area has a very high rate of HIV and Hep C, the numbers are unusually high for such a small population. Some could think it would be because of the treatment centre bringing people in from all over as their results are reflected in the local numbers.

There is a BIG problem with drugs in this city, more so now prescription painkillers, like oxycontins and morphine, then anything else. Bigger then cocaine even. They are snorting it or injecting it. Thats why the hep c is so high from them sharing needles. Hep C can only be transferred through blood, it is very unlikely to give it to someone by having sex. Any doctor will tell you that. HIV though is very very scary. And knowing from reading this that one girl out there is sleeping with men and has hiv is very disturbing.
Back when I was a teenager and even in my 20's we never had to worry about this kind of stuff. Now its just scary and I fear for my grandchildren health and such now. I just pray they are smart enough to know better. They are good kids right now and I hope it stays that way.
Our law officers should be doing a hell of alt more then they d now. How often do u see them sitting in a parking lot with the cars off just sitting there? I see it a lot. instead of sitting there they should be downtown arresting these hiv hookers.

May I make a suggestion?

In Prince Edward Island, Cavendish to be more exact, the cops run out of Tim Hortons. I don't mean that we should stuff Timmy's with Police equiptment, I'm saying that since the police are constantly eating donuts, they can go somewhere faster if they are in a Tim's nearby, like the John Street or Bay Street ones, (They are close to Tancred).

I sincerely doubt this has anything to do with Tim Horton's, and the need for the police to have coffee and food during their shift...who doesn't.  I believe this has more to do with the justice system, and burden of proof, or evidence necessary to even begin to think about prosecuting.  Just because they are standing around on the street, and we are very certain they are soliciting, that doesn't mean the police can just pick them up and charge them.  Perhaps some time needs to be spent not only contacting police about it, but city council and the Crown Attorney's office, as well.  How many times do the police pick up a Whalen type, only to have the courts smack their widdo hands, and send them back out into the world to retrieve their sawed-off shotgun for the next joy ride?  It can't all be placed on the police.

"I'm saying that since the police are constantly eating donuts,"

From Ron's campaign manager, good luck working with the local police with that attitude.
Ron, you had better reign your kid in before he destroys your campaign.

On Albert from Blutcher to Tancred is well worn path, some even venture to Bruce, they are such sweet girls just workin so their man do not have TOO.
Ive heard reports that City PD has said they are not in the business of shutting down or hair assing legitimate business.
I live across from a westend drug lord, he has a steady stream of traffic all day every day all year round and I have never seen our City PD or RCMP hair assing this business concern either.
Today I watch a show on Al Capone  and how he got away with what he did in Chicago and Cisero for so long, there is only one way $$$$$ .......... could the Chicago way be the Zoo way Tooo Huh
If so be very very careful who you complain too, if ya know what I mean.

Sorry, I'm not buying that "reason".  I have family members who are/were police in a nasty, nasty US city, nothing like the Sault.  And even there, lack of action was generally due to lack of resources, not bribery.  That's a very irresponsible charge to make against the local police department, unless you have some evidence.  In which case you should be contacting another police department to investigate that bribery.

Nobody panic, If Ron was mayor, he, unlike our current mayor, would actually do something.
When Ron Schinners  becomes Mayor the POLICE  DEPT is  going  to be INVESTIGASTED  from the TOP DOWN.That  there  will be a priority to get Hookers and Drug Dealers and  the Criminals  behind  bars where they  belong. No more  plea  bargains .You  do  the crime your going to do the time.
It   is time that the People took  back the streets from these  degenerates.

An investigation, that should help getting more cops on the street, after they have done their extensive paperwork for the investigation.
No more pleas bargains, do you even know the role of the mayor? You do know that the prosecuters are part of the provincial jurisdiction?
This isn't the American old west kid, the mayor has limited or no say in these matters. He is basicaaly a CEO of the Corporation of this city.
I don't even know if the mayor has the authority to call for an investgation. Do you?
Ron, you had better reign this kid in quickly.

Yes, because the answer to these problems is more police.

Jails do not work, if they did they'd be empty. Help these people not by locking them up but by giving them a chance. If they have a drug addiction (which is more often the case) give them treatment, don't throw them in jail, that will do nothing but doom them to repeat their life.

More policing is what has gotten us into this mess, logical thinking and policies will get us out.

What a good time to have a trial Video Camera System in place.  Seeing that there are so many complaints, lets put some cameras there to patrol the area.  In this way, the girls and the "Johns" would be IDed for criminal prosecution.  Imagine seeing your face in the, sorry soonews.ca, Sault Star for trying to pick up a hooker.  After the persons involved are identified, charge them with the appropriate crime and suffer the consequences.  Having said that, we then wouldn't need the satelite Cop Shops.  Which is cheaper, cameras or ten policemen and a brand new building to house them in?
