Julie for Mayor 2010, change is among us

What I mean by the title is that in the err.. other BBS, they have postings every minute AND more posts in a thread. Yet, somehow, we have a couple hundred more in numbers of users.. I wonder why we are like this. Not saying Soonews ain't good enough, I've never been properly banned from here, and I like his small Discussion board, but I am starting to think old members aren't posting anymore.. Mark Brown, good guy, helped me do a big project, hes not posted in two years, Razor, good guy, barely any more. Rons posts are down, but I admit he has work.. advertising probably... To do in his campaign. I think the big guys in the forum should get all the users back, somehow, by possibly E-mailing or something saying 'Come back, we're renovating the site, More moderation, Soonews TV', all that. If it was a dream to make Soonews a Northern-Ontario wide Media business, and yes Ive read those good ideas! If that dream still lives, we need a user base.

Perhaps those that left have tired of being bashed for their opinions???
Perhaps a cerain lady who spends her life creating meaningless threads is a factor?
Perhaps it is not as easy as site to use as the owmers think? Many suggestions were made over time and things look pretty much the same.

Personally, I hope it never does.  I like to see this place as a "smarter" version of SooNet, where people come to discuss topics of substance.  Today's topics on SooNet include diaper changing, the strangest date you've ever been on and prepaid phone cards.

I have to agree with Javaman on the issue of meaningless threads.  How hard is it to get rid of a person or two.  I can tell you that these threads are definitely impacting the interest in your message boards.  I can't tell you the number of times I've opened a thread, only to see who it was started by and I close it immediately.  Sure, you get the "hit" count, but it causes me, and I'm guessing others, to lose interest.  Why do you let this person/these people constantly bombard your boards to such a degree?

I stay away from soonet, too many idiots on there. its like a bunch of children picking each other. Sad that the adults in this city act the way they do, soonet shows the maturity level of them ,And is not very high. There are maybe a handful of people on there that are nice and dont act like fools but only a handful. the rest are just idiots and if they have kids i feel for those kids cause they will more then likely end up like their immature idiotic parents.

I think we have an active board here for the most post, I've always said the users here seem to be on the shy side, but you have to remember the forum here is just one small part of the site whereas it's the only thing going over at soonet.  Forum use does not make money for the company so it occupies little of our focus - it's here to use as a feature of the site and that's about it.

I just come here and read the interesting things. If people are fighting I just sign out.But there are a lot of things to make comments on. Like the Crows Nest, and Mike Caruso cross border shopping. Very interesting subject.

It's great to be able to offer an opinion, but this forum would be better if it only allowed people with an informed opinion.

One thing I would like to add....I mod both sites and could tell you I like Soonews members.
Seems to be a little more down to earth here.

Praise's fenderbass's comment.

Why thanks, we're small, happy, and down-to-earth kinda people, and though threads are small, they are rather interesting..
