You wonder why there are no fish...sports fisherman are not the problem!

I agree and disagree with you.  Guys like this have to be stopped and, in my opinion, the fine wasn't large enough.  However, some sports fisherman are still a problem.  The vast majority are very aware of conservation and work to ensure that the population remains healthy.  However, there are still stories of MNR finding a group of guys with 100 or more fish on their way back to the US or somewhere in Canada.  People who do this should be fined heavily as their actions are ruining the sport for thousands of other responsible residents.

the difference is that sports fishermen regardless of where they live are most likely going to eat the fish they catch.  this guy was making a forutune on these fish.... He was only caught with 2000 lbs this time but how much did he take before he was caught.  2000lbs X $4/5 per pound could be as much as $10,000 dollars.  How many catches of 2000lbs did he sell before they had enought evidence to bust him.

Razor.
I agree and disagree with you as well but mostly agree....but the ratio of fish being taken by rod and line are less damaging than a net cleaning out everything.
Resource management seems out of balance and out of touch with the fragility of the lake systems.
There is no easy answer to the problem at hand but at some point we may just see the fish stock depleated beyond recovery.
