Hey Kid:

Your Sault Star letter had no substance.  What a waste.  You won't be the last kid to be infatuated by an older blonde-haired woman.

If JH actually cared about this city, she would have done something before now to show she cares, .... she hasn't.  The campaign if rightfully pegged, .... too lazy to campaign and too self-centered to represent anyone but herself.

The voters will smarten up in time and elect someone with substance.  All this campaign will do is cost someone that is more deserving a few votes.

Ivory,
I'd hate to disagree but...I will. Kid hasn't wasted anything...more youth should take note!
Infatuation aside...people will pay attention to her.
I believe with the changes coming from the ratepayers association I think the voters will be alot more engaged in this election for the first time that I can remember...community is setting the agenda for mayor and candidate alike. Those most qualified after the interview procces and favored by the electorate will get the jobs. All candidates will be treated equally. The difference now is the rate payers association is a condition of hire...organized ward groups will be directly involved as partners with their representatives from now on at the council level before and after the election.
I joined the rate group because I believe it's time to make a change in how we conduct city busness and am willing to work for a better future.
Question is are you willing to step up and get involved like Kid has? Infatuated as he is...lol

Sighz. Ok you two, I am miserable and stressed and exhausted right now, so I will make this short. People should get to know their candidates and they will. Julie will be the most sunny candidate, she has that attitude.. wish I had it. people need to get involved and vote, I can't but my letters aren't done and I will waste every last breath in my life  fighting for my cause, and first thing is my Sidewalk cycling policy..

Julie is already running a lazy campaign for a virtual unknown. She needs to pick up speed NOW.

I think some people here are very quick to jump to conclusions on any candidate. In all fairness, there hasn't been a lot of the Caicco, Amoroso and Schinners Camp either. You probably won't see the campaign pick up any steam until after Labour Day.

The rate payers association won't accomplish squat!  Apathy rules the world, and once the members realize the politicians of this community will spin them in circles, ,they will give up, just as all the like groups tend to do.

To the Kid: ..... you are too young to relate to past politics to know that little changes in this city.  The apathy cards is played again, and all the talkers will simply walk away after they are out of breath.  When you are old enough to run for office, you will probably be 19 oe 20 years old and saddled with student loans and hopefully still in school.  It is somewhat noble to know you are saying you will run for office in 2014, but by then you will hopefully matured enough to realize that there are more important things in life.  Politics is an ugly career choice kid,  you can influence the world in a much more positive manner by becoming a teacher or something of that nature.

Ivory,
So you place yourself up as the poster boy of apathy? You give up before you start? So you are part of the problem...hmm?
Somehow I think you are flat out wrong on this one...from what I've seen...the movement is only gaining momentum..and once these "politicians" realize that the more they spin the stronger the group will become. We in this city are due to make a change on our terms...
apathy or not...working towards solutions.
Good luck candidates...

Good Morning.

Ivory Tower, a shakeup to voter apathy and change is exactly what we are looking to spark.  I disagree that we should give up because of how things have worked in the past - that only keeps us stuck.

Our youth are to be encouraged to be involved.  We have to be careful not to project our own limiting beliefs and past negative experiences onto those who are looking to contribute to this community - they just might be convinced that their effort is of no use and move along.

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."  Albert Einstein

Also, great suggestion about the library donation.  I will get that done tomorrow (Tuesday August 3rd) at the main library.  And yes, the www.JulieforMayor.com website is now live.   Have a safe holiday today - rain and all!
