I am excited about the decision and I hope this clears the slate so that she can be part of City Council again.  I really like how Lorena is active in the community at large.

We can all agree that Lorena has demonstrated committment and dedication to her role.

Lorena Tridico was charged with "... being a party to providing false information to an election official."

The Crown could not prove that the election officer, who handled the form, had written designation from the City Clerk to his appointment.

As reported in the Sault Star, July 31, "The act says that to be found guilty of the offence, the change of address form has to be received by an authorized person - someone who has been properly certified in writing by the clerk..."

So... Lorena won her contest not on whether she had been party to providing false information but on the technicality that the Crown could not provide a written appointment of the election official who received the form.

Am I right?  Am I missing something here?

I still perceive Tridico of committing an ethical violation whether it was legal or not.  However, I also want to ensure that my bias has not coloured my perception of reported events.  Thank you, Oscar.  Smiley

Mr. Green, I agree on the ethical part..just because it technically wasn't illegal doesn't make it right in my book.  I would still have a lot of trouble voting for someone when I felt that way about some of their decisions.

Mr greenjeans and sulleys mom

By your rational there are a lot of council members who should not be on council then.  Don't let inexperiance cloud your opinion.  Let he/she who is without sin cast the first stone.  Judge on actions not words.

Zeddy, can you name another Councillor that has crossed an ethical line when it comes to the Municipal Act?

Almost all at one point or another.  I resist nameing names.  It's too close to the election and don't want to influance.  You can look back at the library.  They have coppies of all council meetings.  My point was that we all make mistakes and as long as we learn form them we are not bad people.  To error is human, to forgive is devine.  We can forgive and not have to forget.
