The US Writer's Strike has forced the cancellation of the first awards show of the season. The Golden Globe Awards.

The awards show was to be televised this coming Sunday, however the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced today, the televised portion f the awrds show has been scrapped.

Though the show could have gotten away without writers, many of the actors and production staff say they would not cross the picket lines.

Instead, a scaled back red carpet event and press conference will be held to announce the award winners.

Hollywood could be faced with the same problem when the Oscars are presented laster this year.

The live Golden Globe Awards were to be televised on NBC and CTV in Canada.
