Friday night Sault College's Outback offered a wild and wonderful line up of entertainment.
In addition to the triple-x rated hypnotism act of Tony Lee, and the rockin' sounds of the Sleddogs, two of those crazy and crass Trailer Park Boys put on a show that no one will soon forget.
John Dunsworth as Mr. Lahey, and Pat Roach as Randy , treated Trailer Park Boys fans to an interactive stage show that had the mostly college age crowd roaring with laughter.
Jim Lahey is the trailer park supervisor and Randy, his assistant, are gay lovers on the show. They are out to get Ricky, the show's big time pot dealer, but somehow the pair never quite get the goods on him.
Lahey's frustration is fueled by alcohol, while Randy prefers cheeseburgers.
Randy never wears a shirt, even in the winter, and many scenes in the show proudly display Randy's large and somewhat hairy torso.
On Friday night the pair were true to form, cursing and swearing, belting down the booze and making fun of everything from Stephan Harper to Japanese whaling ships.
On a more serious note near the end of their onstage performance, Dunsworth took a few minutes to urge on the young crowd to "read a newspaper and be aware of what's going on in the world" He told the audience that they were the ones who can make a difference .
He praised Stephan Lewis for his work in AIDS-stricken Africa and told the spectators to get involved in order to make a change in the world.
When Dunsworth went out into the crowd to videotape the audience, I followed his movements with my video camera.
I wasn't quite prepared for what happened next.
On his way back to the stage he locked in on my taping him and came over with his camera until we were eye to eye.
At this point with both recorders going, he got up close and personal and started dancing around in a circle with me in some sort of tangled Tango.
I never thought I'd be part of the floor show, but it happened!
I couldn't stop laughing. Dunsworth plays the part of a lecherous booze hound to the ninth degree and it's very difficult to see where acting ends and reality begins.
I spoke briefly to the "boys" after the show and asked if there was any possibility that the Trailer Park Boys may add a ninth season. Sadly the answer was no.
However, they will be shooting a new movie this summer so fans will still be able to get another fix of Trailer Park humor.
I still have a question for Mr' Lahey, one that I forgot to ask him that night..
.Was that a walkie-talkie in your pocket or......
