Students and staff at Sault College were asked to wear black and gold today, no its not a school uniform. They are the colours of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the request came to show support for the Sault's own Tyler Kennedy who plays for the team.
The school has a special affiliation with Kennedy, his mother Jo-Ann works in the Registrar Office. Jo-Ann's not at work today she and her husband are in Pittsburgh for the tonight's game.
Lisa Bagnall a co-worker of Jo-Ann's and a big hockey fan organized the day to show Kennedy some home town support.
Georgie Parsons also an employee at the College has a special place in her heart for Tyler. Her son, also named Tyler, and Kennedy have been friends since Junior Kindergarten. “I'm so proud of him” she said.
Pittsburgh must win tonight's game to keep the series alive. The game airs tonight on CBC at 8pm.
