___________________________
The Sault Roller Girls (flat track roller derby league) are bringing fun, attitude, and roller skating to the Sault via roller derby, a fast growing sport with new leagues popping up all over Canada. With our league being the first league formed in Northern Ontario, we hope we inspire other Northern cities to start their own leagues.
The league was founded by Elora Nelson (aka Candy Sores) in August of 2007 and with the help of a few dedicated ladies and some really kind and generous volunteers, we got things rolling to a great start!
We did a bit of fundraising and got involved within the community. The league is a self sustaining non-profit sports league. We pay dues and fundraise to keep the league going financially.
The Sault Roller Girls are currently holding practices at Tarentorus Sports Club. We practice 2 nights a week (Mondays and Thursdays) from 8-10 PM. Every Thursday night is a "Fresh Meat/Recruitment" night (if you would like to come out, please contact Elora at the contact info below).
Practices have been great at Tarentorus, the floors are great for skating and Dawn and Helen and Dave (Tarentorus staff) are awesome and great supporters of our league (big thanks to you all! xo).
Soon, the Tarentorus Sports Club will be icing the floors for curling and we will have only a few more scheduled practices there.
We are really hoping to find a home for the winter, so if you know of any places, or business associates with an empty space, please contact us!!
We don't need the space to be the size of a roller rink but the floors do have to be relatively smooth. Even a warehouse or basement of a building may be suitable.
The league would pay rent to use the space as we do at Tarentorous. We would need the space from October 15 - April 30.
Please help us find a winter home!
