Construction will begin shortly on a new head office for Northern Credit Union.
A ground breaking ceremony took place at the construction site Thursday along with an open house to the existing building on McNabb Street.
The new office complex will include the new branch as well as office space for all administrative and head office functions at Northern.
‘The new building and branch will allow us to better serve our members and also allow all of our administration and executive staff to work under one roof’, says Al Suraci, CEO of Northern Credit Union.
The new project will cost about $8 million and will include three levels over 25,000 square feet.
Geoff Shaw, chairman of Northern’s Board of Directors adds that, ‘it’s no secret that every business needs to evaluate what it can do in this economy to best position itself for the long-term and Northern is no different – we owe that to our members. In Sault Ste. Marie we have been able to devise a plan that will allow us to continue serving our
members at a high-level, adding more efficiencies and continuing our commitment to the local economy.’
