Soon, you might see some new life for the old Northern Brewery building on Bay Street.
Sault Ste. Marie CVity Council approved the sale of the building Monday night to a company represented by Sault Lawyer Robert Dumanski.
The building and property fell into the hands of the City when taxes were not paid and the brewery closed.
The City has tried twice to vest itself of the property with no takers over the past several years.
Dumanski representing a company to be incorporated made an offer of $511,000.
Of that the City will retain about 46 per cent with the rest going to the Canada Revenue Agency and the Provincial Ministry of Revenue.
Dumanski told council that his clients are hoping to re-open the facility as a micro-brewery or for other uses zoned for the property including office space, retail or residential.
According to the Sault EDC, about 20 million dollars was needed to bring the building up to code for a brewery.
