
On Saturday 27 Feb 10 at 2:00pm – Manitoulin OPP were called in regards to a snow machine that went through the ice in the North Channel just off Low Island Beach in Little Current.
Police arrived to find that the single operator a 13 year old boy had been operating a 2004 Artic Cat Snowmobile by the beach area at Low Island. He decided to follow a set of snow mobile tracks out into the North Channel. About 50 meters from shore he attempted to turn around when the ice cracked and broke sending the youth and snow machine into about 6 feet of water.
He managed to crawl out on his own and walked to shore with no injuries. Parents were advised of incident and the snow machine was removed by Boyles Marine in Little Current.
