The 7th annual Sault Ste. Marie Buskerfest hosts professional street performers from Canada, the United States, and Argentina this August 6 through 8

The Sault Youth Association and Buskerfest team up with the Arts Council to present the very first Art in the Parking Spot young artist showcase

Don't try this at home! Instead, let the daredevil danger junkie in you live vicariously through the world-renowned, slightly twisted, and completely zany antics of Buskerfest 2010.

Under the direction of the Sault Youth Association (SYA), and through continued support from TenarisAlgomaTubes, the Sault Buskerfest Committee proudly presents the seventh installment of Sault Ste. Marie's only professional street performers festival, August 6 through August 8 in Queenstown Square 1. In order to host this popular summer event, the Sault Buskerfest Committee wishes to inform the public that Queen Street between East and Brock Streets will be closed to motor vehicles during the following times:

- Friday, August 6 from 4 to 11 p.m. (performances begin at 5 p.m.)

- Saturday, August 7 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (performances begin at noon)

- Sunday, August 8 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (performances begin at noon)

All Queenstown merchants will open for business as usual.

The Buskerfest 2010 performance line up features artists from Canada, the United States, and Argentina, including Junkyard Symphony, the Checkerboard Guy, the Aerial Angels, Dave Cox, Thom Sellectomy, and four-time Guinness World Record-holding football freestylist Victor Rubilar.

In addition to this all-star street performer line up, for the first time ever, SYA and Buskerfest have teamed up with the Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District to host Art in the Parking Spot in front of the Sault Ste. Marie Museum on August 7 and 8 from noon to 6 p.m. This showcase features interactive demonstrations with young artists from the Sault and area. Kids of all ages are encouraged to get creative alongside these talented artists. Art in the Parking Spot's debut will feature tie-dyeing with Patrick Hunter, jewelry-making with Emma Piirtoniemi, hair-wraps with Michelle Loubert, spray paint with Cody Spahr, and drawing with Jeff Dixon. Works by the artists will also be available for purchase.

Don't forget to join the Buskerfest performers as they show their saucy side during the Saturday Night Buskerfest Cabaret at Loplops Gallery-Lounge (651 Queen Street East), starting at 11:30 p.m. Providing the musical backdrop for this year's Cabaret is local funk/ blues outfit Big Wheel and the Spokes. Admission to this event is $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Tickets may be purchased at Loplops Gallery-Lounge or by calling (705) 945-0754. This is an adult event. You must be 19 or older to attend.

Buskerfest 2010 will also play host to a number of local vendors, artists and crafts people. Food and refreshments will be available on-site throughout the duration of the festival. Buskerfest is the perfect event for the young and the young at heart, so prepare to have your jaw dropped, your eyes bugged, and your funny bone tickled! Marie PUC, Brookfield Renewable Power, Sault College - Employment Solutions, Gran Festa Ristorante, Algoma University, BDO Canada, Checker Cab, Christie's Campers, and USW Local 2724.
