Several months ago SooNews.ca posted an online survey on our audience. As I've mentioned time and time again, viewer feedback is paramount to us, it helps us create a better experience for our audience and tells us where we need improvement and where our strengths are.
The numbers that were crunched certainly tell a good story - very impressive in fact.
In television the coveted demo is the 18-49. That's because advertisers see that demo as the biggest spenders or at least has the most disposable income.
For SooNews.ca a whopping 80 percent of our audience falls within that demo, even more impressive is we attract a larger female audience - about 58 percent. That's important because traditionally, women in the household also do most of the spending.
Another interesting figure is the income level of our audience. 65 percent earn over $40,000 a year while another 25% earn over $75,000 - again, an impressive figure for our advertisers. A third of our audience works in an office environment and 71% visit the site multiple times during the day.
But how do we rate to our closest competition? Very good apparently.
Here's some numbers for you.
74% of respondents prefer our news coverage to the competition.
80% of respondents prefer our weather coverage to the competition.
76% of respondents prefer our video coverage to the competition (no surprise there really)
A majority of viewers pay attention to the advertising on the site and believe it to be relevant.
The biggest chunk of our audience comes from the east end and central areas of town (including the downtown area)
98 percent of our audience comes for local news coverage followed by the weather at 69 percent. An impressive 17 percent come to the site for our local tv programs.
We also receive numerous comments from our loyal and still growing audience. Here's what some of you are saying.

And BEST OF ALL you don't put the stupid corny pictures and joke news stories on Soo Today - Yuk! Keep up the great work!

SooNews.ca is my favourite local news site. In fact I have soonews.ca as my homepage. This site keeps me informed about what is happening in the Sault and surrounding areas.
The columists blogs are very informative on a variety of interesting subjects. I also enjoy reading what other people are saying in the forums and have occasionally thrown my two cents into the discussions.
I have recommended the soonews site to many friends and family that live out of town. They too enjoy what this site has to offer.
There is probably more I can say about this site like honesty, integrity and reliability but I know you probably have many other e-mails to read so I will end now.
